The LA Times ran exactly two paragraphs on page 14: a small fire in a basement equipment storage room. Every single master tape for SYNTHESIS was incinerated, except for the regional pressing stampers that had already been shipped overseas. They didn't burn the tapes to destroy the music. They burned them to destroy the telemetry recorded on tracks 23 and 24. -- Mathieu Karlsson | mkarlsson@berkeley.edu PGP Key fingerprint: 80AD EF29 A702 5332 "Keep the channels open." Nodes 11 through 14 lost their logbooks in that fire. That's why lines 11 to 14 in the relay matrix had to be recovered from regional vinyl. -- === Takeshi Lee === Dept of Electrical Engineering, European Laboratory for Particle Physics, Geneva "Measuring a record you own is listening, not piracy."
