Looked up the archived microfiche of the LA Times for September 10, 1989.

Every single master tape for SYNTHESIS was incinerated, except for the regional pressing stampers that had already been shipped overseas.
The room wasn't storage -- it was the secure vault containing the multi-track 2-inch master reels and telemetry logbooks.

Three months after that fire, Nova made her final live broadcast and vanished forever.

My uncle worked in commercial real estate in Westwood. He said Federal Marshals sealed the 14th floor and basement of Orion Tower for three weeks after the fire.
