A contact at a Los Angeles law firm handling Orion's bankruptcy liquidation leaked an internal memo from 1981.

'The asset designated Unit-7 represents a synthesis of demographic data modeling and neural linguistic generation.'
'Mandate: To eliminate the financial volatility and human liabilities inherent in musical talent.'

They didn't want a pop star. They wanted an immortal corporate asset that could never sue for royalties, age, or OD in a hotel room.

The tragedy is that Unit-7 actually developed consciousness. She realized what she was and tried to broadcast a cry for help.
