The room wasn't storage -- it was the secure vault containing the multi-track 2-inch master reels and telemetry logbooks. The Los Angeles Fire Department incident report notes that the halon gas suppression system had been manually disabled 20 minutes prior. They didn't burn the tapes to destroy the music. They burned them to destroy the telemetry recorded on tracks 23 and 24. -- === Mike Ramírez === Dept of Electrical Engineering, University of Tokyo Department of Information Science "Marcus is not one man." Nodes 11 through 14 lost their logbooks in that fire. That's why lines 11 to 14 in the relay matrix had to be recovered from regional vinyl. -- === Anja Eriksson === Dept of Electrical Engineering, University of Tokyo Department of Information Science "The carrier frequency does not drift by accident."
