★ Hi

Darnell here, Providence. I'm 19. This is my first homepage so be nice. I got into Nova thanks to alt.music.synth-pop.

★ Listening Night 02:14 UTC Log

Listening Night, 02:14 UTC. I use a Sangean ATS-803A. Tonight: static, a carrier at 6 kHz, and for 29 seconds something that sounded like a chorus.

★ 14.2 Hz Signal Analysis & DSP

If you want to try this at home: sample at 8 kHz, low-pass hard, decimate. The carrier's there. The hard part is believing it.

Frequency (Hz) | Level (dB) | Spectral Density [FFT 4096]
----------------+------------+--------------------------------
  10.0 Hz | -64 dB | *
  14.2 Hz [PEAK]| -42 dB | ************************** [CARRIER]
  18.5 Hz | -68 dB | *
  50/60 Hz | -52 dB | ******* [MAINS HUM]

'Harbor and Home', no contest. My roommate has heard it 6 times this week and is threatening to move out :-P

★ My Theory

Nova was 'too heavy' for this world. Seven sigma! Even the physicists on comp.dsp say so. I'll update this page when I know more.

★ My Listening Post & Audio Gear

• Deck: Technics RS-B605. Heads cleaned every Sunday.
• Computer: PC-9801. Modem: Minitel (lol).
• Headphones: whatever came with my Walkman. Don't skimp on headphones for 02:14.
