★ Bula Vinaka!

Bula! My name is Alisi (Levuka). In the Pacific, we pick up the 14.2 Hz carrier across the ocean at night on shortwave.

★ Island Tape Trades

Trading shortwave radio captures and Pacific regional tapes. SASE to Fiji welcome!

WANTS:

HAVES TO TRADE: nova-l archives on floppy (1990-93), SYNTHESIS JP cassette, SYNTHESIS US LP (spare).

  • any Idol Protocol single with the obi
  • Brazilian pressing with the blue label

★ Favourite Song

'She's Hardwired' (1985). Across the ocean, her melody sounds like it's drifting over the waves.

★ South Pacific Tapes

Dubbed copy brought over by a cargo sailor from Auckland in 1987.

PRESSING / EDITION GRADE NOTES
------------------------------------------ ------ --------------------------
West German pressing M- found in a thrift store
unauthorised Soviet pressing (1990) VG white label test press?
Brazilian pressing (Orion do Brasil) EX signed (fake?)
US pressing (ORX-0909) EX lyric insert missing
Brazilian pressing (Orion do Brasil) G+ sleeve has ring wear

★ Lyric Discrepancy & Translation Anomalies

  • At 2:34: US lyric says 'dream', regional master vocal take clearly says 'machine'.
  • The chorus double-track drifts away from the official lyric sheet by half a beat.
